Discussion and action on the downtown sidewalk project

SUMMARY:
The City Manager, Mayor, and City Engineer met with TDOT on the resurfacing plans and corners. They will provide an update at the meeting.
The current permit sidewalk plan includes the following:
1. Street Signage (post will be black square)
2. All Items pertaining to ADA Sidewalks with Curb and Gutter (also includes retaining walls, ramps and steps to doorways, planter curbs, canopy footings and handrails).
3. Street Lighting with receptacles for Christmas lights and associated power supplies.
4. Temporary Pavement Markings
Items that should be added to the project include all necessary equipment for the pedestrian signals at the Fourth Street and First Street intersections.

NECESSARY COUNCIL ACTION: Rescind the action taken on July 22, 2016 regarding the downtown sidewalks, and authorize the City Manager to take bids on the downtown sidewalk project, including street lights, as re-designed.
