Title
Ethics Complaint - Event Six involving Interim City Manager Steve Hill and Councilman Jesse Kerley
Body
SUMMARY:
On June 3, 2016 Councilman Kerley and Interim City Manager Steve Hill did approach the County Justice Center to make sure that no charges were passed through the magistrates’ office in connection with the June 2 assault on myself (Pete Souza). This action was to deny the exercise of my (Pete Souza) right to press charges, a clear violation of official oppression T.C.A. 39-16-403. This was preceded by a visit from Chief Shoap to Mr. Hill’s office showing him the video and declared he was taking it to the D.A. because it was clear that Jerry and Jesse Kerley stalked and assaulted Pete Souza. This was a clear attempt to abridge the investigation and my rights.
City Council shall either determine that the complaint has merit, determine that the complaint does not have merit or determine that the complaint has sufficient merit to warrant further investigation. If the Council determines that a complaint warrants further investigation, it shall authorize an investigation by the City Attorney or another individual or entity chosen by the City Council. (§ 1-710(3))
