SUMMARY:
The Utility Maintenance Department sent specifications and a request for bids on a new, 2014 Horizontal Directional Drill, Trailer and Vacuum Equipment. Three (3) bids were received. It is the recommendation of the Utility Maintenance Manager, Billy Martin, that the bid submitted by Vermeer Heartland be accepted at a cost of $270,340.00. Vermeer Heartland was not the lowest bid received, however the other bids submitted did not meet the required specifications.
The small Vermeer will back bore up to 6" diameter and the larger one will back bore larger than a 12" diameter and has 20 additional horsepower. In most cases, this will allow the City to put up to an 8" line under the road.

Accept the bid from Vermeer Heartland for the purchase of a new, 2014 Horizontal Directional Drill, Trailer and Vacuum Equipment at a cost of $270,340.00.
