SUMMARY: The City applied for an FAA Bipartisan Infrastructure Law Grant for the Renovations of the Airport Terminal Building. The City has been awarded this grant for a total construction cost of $649,980.00 which includes a match from the City at an amount of $32,000.
This project will bring the existing terminal building into compliance with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards by modernizing the roof and restrooms improving Americans with Disabilities ACT (ADA) accessibility and energy efficiency.
This grant will be funneled through TDOT Aeronautics. The City must hire the Engineer/ Architect, bid the project as design build and submit the grant request to TDOT Aeronautics by November 4th 2022. The FAA will issue the grant by the end of the year.
A contract with Adkins is attached at a lumpsum amount of $58,070.00. Due to the above-mentioned time constraints, the City cannot apply for a grant for this architectectual work. The Director of Engineering recommends the approval of the contract so that the fast-paced grant schedule can be accomplished.
