Ratification of action taken in 2010 relative to bridge health insurance

SUMMARY:
In 2010, City Council voted to phase out the bridge insurance program for early retirement by limiting it to employees within 10 years of retirement. At that time, there were 29 employees who had the potential to apply for it. A current employee who is considering early retirement and would be eligible for the bridge insurance has asked for a commitment that this will not be eliminated before they are eligible for Medicare.

NECESSARY COUNCIL ACTION: Ratify the action taken in 2010 to continue the bridge insurance program until all employees deemed eligible as of July 2010 have reached Medicare eligibility.
