Discussion and action regarding approval of I-40 Force Main Crossing Change Order 1

SUMMARY: The recommended change order includes replacing 450 feet of 4-inch low pressure sewer along Genesis Road in the area of the new Weigel’s. The existing line is not deep enough, has been bypassed due to several accidental breaks, and needs to be replaced prior to Weigel’s completing their construction. By adding this quantity of 4-inch pipe, the contractor has reduced their price. This change order also consists of additional “asphalt” because of a new parking lot on Interchange Drive, additional “Flowable Fill” required in road cuts that became deeper due to other utilities, and other single quantity issues. This change order is a $106,820 increase in the total contract amount and does not include any additional days.
