Approval of Three Star Grant

SUMMARY: Department of Economic Community Development recently revamped the Three Star program. The new and improved program focuses on the JECDB and putting resources toward improving the communities as opposed to focusing on filing paperwork. It focuses on 3-5 substantive areas essential to long term competitiveness in a global economy. Cumberland County, being a Tier 2 County, is eligible to receive $7,500 for projects that would improve the focus areas. The JECDB's application has been submitted and granted preliminary approval by the Department of Economic Community Development for two projects, Junior Achievement ($5,000) and Young Driver Saturation Patrol ($2,500). Final approval is expected to be granted June 24 when ECD's loans and grants committee meets.
