Title
Update on Proposed 12-Inch High Pressure Gas Line Project across Meadow Park Lake Property
Body
SUMMARY: Staff from Middle Tennessee Natural Gas provided a presentation to the Council on a proposed high pressure 12-inch gas line across Meadow Park Property February 5, 2019. MTNG recently met with staff and worked out a corridor for the gas line and several details for the installation. The route is shown on the attached map.
Details discussed with MTNG include the following:
• Adding a 10-foot gravel path above the gas line in the wooded area on the far side of the lake
• Crossing Meadow Creek with the gas line utilizing bridge concrete abutments and MTNG possibly providing funding for an aluminum or steel bridge.
• All brush and timber, in the forested area, to be chipped into mulch and applied in the 30-40-foot cleared corridor for stabilization.
MTNG is working on a document that would give them permission to install the line in an approved corridor with all agreed stipulations. The City Council would need to approve this agreement. Once the line is installed, the line would be surveyed for exact location and a 20-foot-wide easement document would also be approved by the City Council.
MTNG is moving forward with this project at a fast pace and a special called meeting could be required to approve the agreement.
The Lake Commission met January 25th and voted to move forward with MTNG as presented by City Staff.
