Title
Approval of amended referendum resolution
Body
SUMMARY: City Attorney Randy York received a call from Cumberland County Election Coordinator Jill Davis. The Attorney General’s Office contacted her and they want to slightly change the question that will be on the ballot in November relative to the referendum. The Attorney General’s Office suggested to delete the portions on the question dealing with the Exhibits. They were concerned that the voters would be asking for exhibits when they went into the voting booth. So, The City of Crossville and Cumberland County Election Commission will prepare presentation boards for the voting precincts. The exhibits will also be published on the City’s website and the local newspaper.
The question currently on the ballot states: “Shall the City of Crossville be authorized to transfer to the Cumberland Plateau Water Authority the properties listed on Exhibit A, B & C if the Crossville City Council later determines that such transfer is in the best interests of the City of Crossville and its ratepayers?”
The recommended revision states: “Shall the City of Crossville be authorized to transfer to the Cumberland Plateau Water Authority 3.85 acres surrounding the dam and 38.17 acres surrounding the water treatment plant, at Meadow Park Lake along with various parcels located at Holiday Lake and all other parcels necessary for the continued operation of the system, if the Crossville City Council later determines that such transfer is in the best interests of the City of Crossville and its ratepayers?”
