Discussion and action on application for a tourism grant

SUMMARY:
The Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development just announced on March 10 a grant opportunity for projects that enhance tourism. In looking at the suggestions furnished by the State, staff would like Council to consider an application to help fund the restrooms/concessions at the amphitheatre. The maximum grant is $50,000 with a local match of 30%. A decision needs to be made quickly as the applications are due on April 18.
The proposed project is in the capital plan with an estimated cost of $166,500, which includes construction, design, and sitework. Announcements will be made in June. If successful, the project can be included in the 2016-17 budget. The project will be required to be completed in one year.
