Title
Discussion and action on Crossville Shooting Sports Park
Body
SUMMARY:
For some time, plans have been underway for the construction of a shooting sports park to be located on a portion (approximately 116 acres) of the former City landfill property located between Chestnut Hill Road and Albert Frye Road. TWRA has $2,990,000 in their current budget for the construction of a training center building to be used for training and educational activities. The complex will also have multiple trap and skeet shooting ranges, sporting clay ranges, rifle, and pistol ranges. The concept is for Crossville Shooting Sports Park, LLC to operate the facility.
As approved by Council, a grant application was submitted for $50,000 to build pavilions for competitors and spectators, bleacher seating, PA system, and lighting.
The timeline for the project is to start construction in second quarter 2017. At the work session, Council will be discussing a proposed lease and operating agreement between the City of Crossville and Crossville Shooting Sports Park LLC.
A proposed long-term lease and operating agreement will be presented to the Council for consideration. The Tourism Enhancement Grant requires that the property be owned by the City or County.
