Approval of application for Tennessee Economic and Community Development Façade Grant

SUMMARY: Each year TNECD offers a grant for improvements to commercial businesses. Eligible projects include exterior improvements to for-profit or non-profit commercial businesses including signage, painting, awnings, lighting, windows, doors, entryways and other approved improvements (interior improvements are not allowed). The grant deadline has not been established yet, but in preparation of the grant, there are certain criteria that have to be met prior to application such as income designations, public hearings, and blight designations (https://www.tn.gov/ecd/rural-development/tennessee-main-street/facade-improvement-program.html.) The City Manager is requesting approval to apply for the grant and begin the process of making sure the criteria are met.
